Frequently Asked Questions

What is Primary360 / virtual primary care?

Primary360 is Teladoc’s virtual-first primary care offering. You schedule a visit with a board-certified primary care provider by phone or video, who becomes your ongoing healthcare partner. The provider treats current needs, orders labs or referrals when necessary, and helps you build a care plan over time

Who can use this virtual primary care service?

Eligible adults age 18 and older can enroll. Children ages 13-17 can receive care (with parent present). It’s designed especially for people who don’t currently have a primary care provider, who want flexible access, or who want a new care relationship they can maintain virtually.

What kinds of health issues or services can a provider support?

Providers can manage preventive care (checkups, screenings), prescriptions and refills, chronic conditions (e.g. hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol), acute issues (e.g. colds, flu, allergies), mental health support, and make referrals for in-person care as needed.

How does a new patient visit work (what to expect)?

You’ll meet with your provider by video (or phone), discuss your health history, symptoms, and goals. You can share prior labs, images, or data (like blood pressure). The provider will create a personalized care plan including labs, prescriptions, or referrals. Your care team will follow up and help coordinate next steps.

How do labs, imaging, referrals, and in-person care fit into the virtual model?

When needed, the provider can order lab work, imaging, referrals, and vaccinations. Your care team helps connect you with in-network facilities or specialists in your area. Results are reviewed with your provider and integrated into your virtual care plan.

Can you prescribe medications (or refill existing ones)?

Yes — the providers can initiate new medications and issue refills (often up to one year). If you request a refill for a medication not previously prescribed by them, you may need to upload a picture of your existing prescription to confirm dosing

Can GLP-1 (weight loss) medications be prescribed?

Yes — for members who are already under care, providers may prescribe GLP-1 medications when clinically appropriate, and where allowed by state regulations. The approach also includes nutrition, behavioral therapy, and full medical assessment. Insurance coverage will affect cost.

What is the “care team,” and how do they support me?

Your provider is supported by a care team of registered nurses, medical assistants, and care coordinators. They help with tasks like coordinating lab orders, managing referrals, checking vital signs, tracking progress, and answering questions — similar to staff in a traditional doctor’s office but optimized for virtual care.

What does “virtual-first health plan” mean, and how does in-person care integrate?

A virtual-first plan means most of your primary care happens virtually (phone or video). But if your provider determines you need in-person services (e.g. imaging, labs, specialist visits, vaccinations), the care team will help you connect with in-network providers locally. The virtual provider remains your medical home.

What is the cost or membership fee? How is an annual checkup handled?

Primary360 is covered by many major health plans (e.g., Aetna), some employers, and special arrangements with companies like Simple Health Plus. An annual checkup is often offered at $0 (i.e. waived) in accordance with benefits policy
